Gardar og Grende is the creation of multi-instrumentalist Sorg, who operates from the rural landscapes of Kvinnherad beneath the Folgefonna glacier. Combining raw black metal with somber Norwegian folk traditions, the album is a exercise in total creative autonomy—written, arranged, and performed entirely by hand.  

The album takes its name from ancient Norwegian words: Gardar (hard-won, enclosed farmsteads) and Grende (scattered, close-knit hamlets). Rather than modern polished excess, Gardar og Grende relies on organic textures—wood, strings, pipes, skin, and breath—to evoke a time when human life was bound directly to the land, kinship, and the physical struggle for survival.  

For listeners seeking black metal defined by genuine craftsmanship, rural dignity, and a complete rejection of digital commercialization, Gardar og Grende offers an uncompromising return to tradition and self-sufficiency.
